"image rotator" from hiveware

I just wanted to credit the source of the php I am using to generate the rotating image at the top of my right column. I found this piece of software over at Hiveware and I like it very much. Check it out, and while your at it, see Mr. Benjamin's blog at Hivelogic… it's quite nice!

sweet onions!

onions.jpg

We had a lovely morning at the San Francisco Farmer's Market (at the newly renovated Ferry Building at the Embarcadero)… everything is a bit pricey… but really, really good. And hey, you are ingesting it after all, so it shouldn't be crap. Anyway, I recommend the crepe stand, the small cake stand (Miete), the cactus guy and just about everything else.

Warren Buffett on the Dividend Tax Cut

I encourage everyone to read this “Dividend Voodoo” piece by Warren Buffett. I have attempted to link to a printer-friendly (ad-free) version of the article at The Washington Post.. hopefully the link will work for awhile.

Remember when the Republican Party used to stand for fiscal responsibility, a balanced budget and eliminating the deficit? At this point there seems little doubt about President Bush surviving re-election next year… but the real question is: Will America survive four more years of G.W. Bush as President.

button in cheek

Please see this entry at dollarshort.org…mucho clever. Blogging community self-deprecation is a good and noble thing.

I have been restraining myself on these buttons, only having two at the moment :) … but I'll add a couple more…. I think you just can't have more than five or six…. that should be a rule. Some relevant links:

cool Americans in Paris battle cynicism and write amusingly

Gothamist: Amanda Hesser and Tad Friend On Segways…in Paris! ::: I've been reading Amanda Hesser's Cooking for Mr. Latte but this travel diary is the first thing I have read by her husband, Tad Friend. It turns out they are both charming writers. I love reading things that are smart without being overly self-conscious. There is way too much self-conciousness in the “modern” world.

I also love the idea of three Americans tooling around Paris on Segways … those odd looking but amazing machines. I find the cynicism of many Americans regarding Segways to be more than slightly annoying… I just think they should be available in “colors” … the whole gray thing is way too institutional.

sleepy.

I am so damn tired, I sit down for a few minutes after dinner and all the sudden I've been a web potato for two hours… danger, Will Robinson, danger.

I have been itching for a new game recently… the last FPS I really got into was No One Lives Forever 2, a great game… and of course Civilization III rocks my world mightily… but I need something new for a game diversion… suggestions?

I will do better, really.

my blogging has gotten sporadic… this signals a lack of discipline on my part, because I sure as hell should have something to say every single day, dammit! starting now… I promise content of quality served up daily daily daily…. and no, this little missive doesn't count because writing about needing to write more doesn't count… or only counts in the most pathetic way… so more later, baby, more later.
